Asphalt workers cleaning up after a repair.

What happens if a tractor trailer damages your parking lot?

Large trucks, especially garbage and concrete trucks more damage on asphalt pavement than any other type of vehicle. We received a call to perform a repair where the landing gear for a semi-truck trailer had dropped while the vehicle was moving and created a large groove in the parking lot.

The challenge with this type of repair isn’t the asphalt work itself it’s the danger with working in a busy truck lane. When you have vehicles are entering and exiting the parking lot continuously safety is a top concern. Not only does the business need us to perform our repairs quickly they don’t have time to manage an accident or safety violation.

How do you repair damaged asphalt from a tractor trailer?

In this particular situation we were able to use our Infrared Asphalt Truck to quickly and efficiently heat the pavement to a workable temperature to perform the repair. This enabled us to use one medium duty semi-truck instead of multiple vehicles, a small tractor, and large roller compactor.

How long does a repair like this take?

From start to finish a 7×10′ repair takes about an hour. Often times the part of the process that takes the longest is the set up and breakdown of the equipment.
