Durham HOA Street Repair
At Green Street Blacktop we specialize in asphalt repair and maintenance. We ask ourselves and our customers “why throw something away when it can be properly maintained and repaired?”
We were excited for the opportunity to work with a South Durham community, Arbor Pointe, to repair their road and add sealcoating to the streets to protect the asphalt. I’m biased because my home is nearby but this part of Durham is booming with new construction and great restaurants are opening regularly.
The Green Street Blacktop shop is located on the other side of the city but this was a very convenient work location for our crew.
Maintaining and repairing asphalt greatly extends the life of the pavement and reduces the overall cost of this critical infrastructure over time.
Durham, NC HOA Project Scope
The scope of our project was to repair the asphalt near the entrance of the community and near the recycling and trash collection areas. In our experience, garbage and recycling trucks are a common cause of asphalt damage. This is mainly because the roads are designed for cars that weight well under 10,000 lbs and garbage trucks can weigh more than 50,000 lbs!
Over time the sun oxidizes the oils and binding agents out of the pavement, which starts to look pale gray instead of dark black, which makes the road brittle. Then the large heavy trucks drive over and that causes small cracks. Those small cracks become larger over months and years and then you have a large problem to manage.
Road crack repairs
There were a little under 10,000 feet of cracks throughout the road in this community. You want to repair the cracks with hot melted rubber to seal the crack to slow and prevent the spread of cracking. Again, the goal here is to extend the life of a road. Check out our crack repair services over here.
Triangle Asphalt Sealcoating
The road through this Durham neighborhood has a little over 33,000 square feet of pavement. We applied asphalt sealer to extend the life of the pavement and give it a fresh look. Sealer is best applied in multiple coats so we used two coats in many locations and 3 coats in high traffic areas.
Durham Line Striping
The curb in this neighborhood had been painting a number of different colors over the years. The latest was a dark green which makes for a funny no parking notification. We striped these curbs in traffic yellow with new white no parking stencils.
When we completed our work for Arbor Pointe which is managed by CAS the whole neighborhood had been updated. There were much needed pothole repairs, crack filling, line striping, and sealcoating.
If you have asphalt maintenance needs give Green Street Blactkop a call anytime. We love large and small projects.
